The winter Olympics struggle to hold my interest. Which events will you watch, if any?

Me, I'll watch the hockey, and the downhill skiing, but that's about it.

We normally have a few ice skaters and a decent Bob team but our couple of skiers are usually near last place.

I'll be watching all the dangerous stuff like luge, downhill, ski jumping and polar bear wrestling but it ain't going to be keeping me up at nights put it that way

I guess if youre Swiss or Canadian these games are great but i dont figure to check my daily listings very much and set my tv schedule to it like i do with the Summer Games. The highlight for me already is talking to someone who was actually in the Summer Games in China about their opening day experience on twitter during the opening of the Winter Games Friday.

Ill probably catch a few sports here and there depending of whatever else is on tv and perhaps even make a point to watch a sport with drama which is sure to develop. I dont have any favorite winter sports other than NFL football in the snow. Curling looks like it would be fun to do but as far as it being an Olympic sport? Child pleeze!

I watched the opening ceremonies...the Brits sent over a decent sized crew of atheletes.

I watch the speed skating (LOVE me some Apolo Ohno!!!)...last night had my parents, sister, and me on the edge of our seats during his races (qualifying heats and race for the medal...he got silver, btw..it was a nail-biter..he almost lost his ass)

But other than speed skating, we like to watch some (not all) of the downhill skiing, luge (sp?..sounds like loooooooge?) and that one where they go down a hill of bumps (no idea what that one is called). Those are the sports we like to watch..but we all LOVE the ice skating...that's the best thing about the winter olympics..the ice skating


Did any of you guys (you have no idea how hard it was  not to type "ya'll") see Georgia during the Opening Ceremonies? SoooOOooo sad..I almost cried..that was one fucked up tragedy

I don't usually like the music they use. Dreary stuff, most of it. I like to watch the individuals more than the couples skating. No matter what, though..it's better than curling!!

Speaking of hot chicks, im flipping channels and stumble onto this babe from the Great Britain curling team and it caught my attention so i started to watch it.



First of all, as i said before, I dont know how anyone in their right mind can make curling an Olympic sport and call these people athletes. Curling is a sport like billiards or air hockey is a sport. On top of that, I learned that they have separate men's and women's teams for this. As if sex would affect the performance of tossing a stone on ice and using a broom type sweeper to clear a path on the ice.

Dont get me wrong, it looks like a very fun activity - game to play. I love the Newtonian physics and inertia aspects of it similar to billiards and bowling. But i dont know what they were thinking when they made this into an Olympic sport. It tends to demean the other legit sports.

Agreed, in some aspects. Hard to classify it as a sport, but at the same time, I like the objectiveness of it, and not the subjective scoring that you see a lot in Olympic sport.

Proof from this Olympics that posh British birds are fuckin fantastic at sliding down an icy track on a biscuit tin lid using (as far as i can see) only thier tits for brakes  Gowon you horsey, buck toothed bimbo who likes nothing more than a good shafting off the stable lad when Daddies shooting a brace of grouse for supper. For me, the speed skating is at the top of the winter olympic sports. Apolo Ohno and Shani Davis are amazing to watch (and they're both delicious eye candy, too...which never hurts).
No other event has our house (well...the women of the house) so worked up. I watched some of the ice skating, but not all of it. The men's skating was good. Evan Lysacek and Johnny Weir were both worth watching (and Evan...holy crap  ) but like Kid was saying about subjective scoring...the points go to who the judges like the best, and sometimes, it appears to be more about the skatER than the skatING (yes, I think Johnny Weir got robbed on his free-skate program)

Did anyone watch the men's snowboarding? those guys are SICK!! Shaun White deserved the gold (which he won)-that is another sport that was amazing to watch (although the scoring is a little iffy...the judges are definitely not without prejudice)

If that involved the cheaper end of the national press jostling for pics and interviews and the rest of the nation, apart from a few of her inbred University friends and every spotty ex boyfriend who wants to sell grimy cell phone sexpics to the Daily sport, not giving a flying fuck and wishing that the European lawmakers hadn't stopped us wrapping our fish and chips in used newspaper so we could fuck the story off even quicker then yeah. Pretty similar.

I was watching this shit at a restaurant with my wife, it was on this huge fucking TV, and I could not take my eyes off it.

Watching some really hot women curlers was not a bad way to waste some time. I couldn't figure out the game, but there were to smoking hot skanks, one on the US and the one pictured, who kept bending over and sliding a huge puck, over and over again. The also had little scrubbing pole they used, which was strategically placed between their legs. God, I would love just to sniff the handle.
