if he is as old as the others say he is....(I was under the assumption he was only 10 yrs old) and they do not plan on using him again....he should be put down...
http://www.nydailynews.com/news/national/2010/02/24/2010-02-24_killer_whale_kills_trainer_at_orlandos_sea_world.html Here's one of umpteen articles that list the animal's age at 30..google the orca's name..Tilikum. Try researching things, instead of assuming things.
Someone needs to tell the American's to quit exploiting large wild animals and humans like this...its time for yanks to grow up,..
Do you have something against Americans? You seem make alot of generalized negative statements regarding this country...and yet again, you are proven to have your head up your ignorant ass, due to lack of research. (and in your own statement, you state that we need to stop exploiting large wild animals...implying that it is acceptable to exploit smaller ones?)
Let me explain:
America isn't the only country guilty of exploitation...
Japan has captive Orcas.
Loro Parque, a park in Spain, has captive orcas.
Argentina had captive orcas (unsure if they still do).
France has captive orcas
OH WAIT!!! Your beloved Australia has Sea World...a marine water park that exploits dolphins, seals, sharks...while they don't have any captive killer whales, they still exploit dolphins (in the Imagine show), sea lions in the "Fish Detectives" show...just because these animals are smaller in size, that does not, in ANY WAY, SHAPE, OR FORM diminish Australia's guilt in their exploitation. Perhaps OZ needs a little dose of that 'grow up' medicine you so readily dole out to the Americans.
Now, do I believe that ANY of these parks have the right to exploit any of these animals, regardless of size? No. Do I think America is less guilty or more guilty than any of the other countries that have captive marine life? No. Do I believe that ALL countries need to stop exploiting dolphins, whales, etc..? YES. Do I believe that these parks do some good, in their documented rehab and release efforts? yes. Do the park ticket costs go towards these rehab/release efforts? Probably. Is it a catch 22? more than likely, yes.
put him down,.... that is the only humane solution..
And just why should he be put down? Because humans made a piss-poor decision to put a wild animal in captivity and treat it like a pet?
How about they build a sea-pen, put him in it, and let him live out his remaining years in some sort of peace? There are other solutions besides killing him.
