Well Scoundy you just painted yourself and your pals here into a corner. Didn't someone say that I had to be black? Actually I'm as snowy white as can be. Just know you don't categorize a whole race with one word. So who reached a generalization about everyone through the usage of the word 'nigger'?
The word nigger to me is a derivative of negro.. but on investigation it comes from the Latin word niger which means black….it was probably used to describe the first captured people enslaved in the USA and other places because although most of them came from Africa, they were not all of the same tribe, obviously…early slave masters referred to them as, “darkies.” Who does that today? No one that I know of.
It isn’t “racist” to use a descriptive word to encompass a group….it was made into one for some stupid reason…
If you watch movies you see Africans, Native Sth Americans call all Europeans a name blanketed under various colloquialisms…..do the Europeans run around screaming “racism”? They do not….
I am remember the movie Emerald Forrest….the groups of people were labelled by the, “Invisible people”….Termite People, (Europeans) and Fierce People, (Cannibals)
Angie Babe here writes in way that looks down on “Rednecks” and “Blondes”….she writes in the way of a Bigot… the ones who are the most bigots in my view is anyone who looks down their nose on someone else. Period… So, in her view, its NOT acceptable to use “nigger” but it certain acceptable to wipe aside the views of people who don’t agree with her… She won’t even read something a Christian wrote, even when its true…ie The truth about Mandela.
I know for a 100% fact, I treat all people EQUALLY…..regardless of their station in life….I get to talk with people from every walk of life…I try to find a common ground and work from there as does any reasonable person.
Once again and not to let the point slip by under the reams of useless flaming in this thread….if blacks in the USA use the word with un-abandonment….so can everyone else. If you want to change a meaning of a word, its on your head but do not force it down everyone else’s throat under the banner of political correctness… There is no such thing.
