It is true….no atheists came out of Gallipoli, in other words, the only thing between the Anzacs and death was whether God was going to grant their prayers and that they’d survive and get to return home.
Hardly, it comes down to chance. If your name isn't on it then it's not for you.
Who the hell is this god guy to decide what nice young chap gets to see his wife and kiddies again and who gets horribly mutilated and tricking people into thinking he is kind an wise because he leaves a few survivors...
Cruel bastard, he must think this planet is just some big computer game or something because he doesn't seem to be taking it too seriously.
I wouldn't trust him with my Empire Total War account...
Just because people will do anything to avoid horrible mutilation it doesn't make god any more real, only more despicable. Prayer, is the recourse of those who can not or will not take action. In other words, they should have fucking known better. Besides, I don't think that people under constant shellfire, on a shitty diet and facing periodic marches into certain death are really going to leave any stone unturned when it comes to finding a way out.
I bet if you told some poor bastard who's had half his face blown off that praying would make him whole again he would give it a try.
Sort of like a confession extracted during torture...
Old men with 'holiness' and dollar signs in their eyes play a confidence trick on the young to assuage their bitterness at the world and this is called war.
They tell the young that this 'god' is on their side and that they are invincible, something that the young believe anyway and they don't know any better. It's called taking advantage.
The only thing that works in religion's favour is philanthropy, fortunately it attracts some really good people.
