The punishment for corruption in politics, is it severe enough?
« on: December 10, 2008, 01:59:26 PM »

As I filter through the many articles and comments about Rod Blagojevich in todays blogs, forums, and periodicals; One fact continually stands out in my mind, this sort of political corruption is nothing new, nor is it even shocking any more.

What, if anything is being done to dissuade these criminal behaviors in our government and is it enough? These are people who are elected by us and paid with our tax dollars. They're being investigated by more people being paid with our tax dollars, and prosecuted in courts also funded by our tax dollars. It is absurd that these crimes are so rampant and we continually foot the bill for such poor judgment.

It seems that even with our own president, this is some sort of unbreakable cycle that will never be addressed and dealt with effectively and that unless it infringes on appearances or steps on some other politicians toes, it is mostly ignored and accepted as "politics as usual".

I know in the recent past, several politicians have been found guilty of similar charges that Blagojevich is being indicted for. In my own state, three term Governor John Rowland springs to mind first and foremost. He served a ten month sentence in federal prison for "depriving the public of honest service" even though he was guilty of some extremely fraudulent behaviors.

I've had enough of this bullshit and strongly feel that if someone is found guilty of abusing the power we bestowed upon them in public office, they should be made to pay for every single dime spent investigating, then prosecuting them and if they can not, they should spend a comparable amount of time in prison to reimburse the tax payers.

I agree 100%, they should be held liable for their crimes and the funds spent to investigate and prosecute.

But hey, I'm just some commie. What do I know?

Look on the brightside, under PR you get party lists so dont even get to vote for the candidate.

Funny as fuck you bent bunch of cunts  :rotf:

The funniest part of the whole debacle was the entire Obama machine powering up into "distancing mode".

I'd love to have been in the ObamaBunker when the news came in...."Well god fucking damn that fucking nigger !!!!!"  :rotf:

Yea chicago is fucking notorious, even I know that. Didn't the democrats get caught rigging votes bigtime in a presidential election in the 60's?

I think Louisiana has had more than its fair share of crooks in office, they should sell it back to the french, or us, you can fit a fucking lot of golf courses on that bit of turf.
